Campaign Recap

50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing

Fifty years ago, on July 20, 1969, Houston became the epicenter of innovation when Neil Armstrong took his historic first step onto the moon and stated, “Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed.” Houston First Corp. (HFC) recognized an opportunity to develop an out-of-this-world integrated campaign for the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, all on a modest budget. Collaborating with major brands and city partners, HFC reinvigorated the "Space City" nickname, inspiring visitation to Houston for this momentous event.

Social Campaign: Space Casey

It all begins with an idea. Space Casey was born as a tool to bring Visit Houston’s social media channels to life and build a year-long buzz leading up to the month-long moon landing celebration. This recap highlights the national media attention of this social campaign, all while breaking industry-average standards for engagement, website referrals, and most importantly visitation to the festivities.
